The 2025 Thistle National Championship will be August 2nd – 8th, 2025 at Sandusky Sailing Club in Sandusky, OH and we can’t wait to see you all!
Thistle Nationals 2025 is going to be hosted at the Sandusky Sailing Club. SSC has a history of hosting successful national level events. In the last few years they have successfully hosted Opti Nationals,and many other successful one design events. They successfully hosted Thistle Nationals most recently in 2013! Also SSC just won the 2025 One Design Club of the Year award from US Sailing! Come see what their award winning regattas are all about.
There are tons of activities for sailors and family in Sandusky and the surrounding area including:
- Vibrant and revitalized downtown Sandusky, just a 10 min walk from SSC (Voted Best Coastal Small Town in the country in 2019!)
- Cedar Point Amusement Park (20 min away)
- Put In Bay (45 min ferry ride)
- Kalahari Water Park (15 min away)

Registration: CLUBSPOT REGISTRATION LINK
Event registration is live on Clubspot! The regatta registration will be through Clubspot. Meal packages and camping will be purchased through Clubspot as well.
Early Registration: February 19th- May 1st. Registration Fee: $475.
Regular Registration: May 2nd – July 1st. Registration Fee: $500
Late Registration: July 2nd- July 20th. Registration Fee: $600
Registration Closes July 20th.

All meals, camping spots, and keg sponsorships can be purchsed through Clubspot at the link above (which can also be access through the main regatta Clubspot page). Anyone can make purchases through this site, you do not need to be registered or be a Clubspot member.

Childcare:
There will be childcare for the event. More details to come.
Sailing Area:
Racing will be held in the protected waters of Sandusky Bay. We anticipate a short sail out to the race course each day. SAILING AREA MAP
Housing:
There are many options for housing very close to the Sailing Club. These include
RV Camping: RV Spots will be available in the parking lot right next to the club for a fee ($400) for the week. No water or electric hookups will be available.
Tent Camping: Tent camping will be avilable on the sailing club grounds for $150 per tent for the week. Extra showers and facilities will be rented for the week for those camping in tents or RVs.
Hotels: There are many local hotels ranging in price from $100 per night and up.
AirBnBs: There are many local Airbnbs, but these can book up fast for the summer months so book them soon!
Child Care: There will be childcare available for the week, more details to come.
Sailors for The Sea:
This event will be registered as a Clean Regatta with Sailors for the Sea. Please remember to bring refillable water bottles, reef-safe sunscreen, and non-toxic boat wash.
