Basic Regatta Notes
Thistle Fleet 79 welcomed 36 Thistles from around the Southeast to Lake Lanier on September 6-7. We were able to sail 2 races in light and shifty conditions across both days. Thank you to our PRO Ted McGee, his RC team, and to all of our Fleet 79 volunteers for helping make this event a success.
Clean Regatta Notes
Darby Reddaway Allison led our clean regatta initiative this year. We were able to reduce plastic usage by providing metal cutlery at meal times and by encouraging competitors to bring reusable bottles and cups for mealtimes. Michael Lenkeit and Darren Chambers won our “Green” award for picking up some trash they found in the lake as they were sailing (drifting) along.
