Basic Regatta Notes
Three days consisting of 8 races were completed in light to moderate sea breeze on the Pacific Ocean outside of Ventura Harbor. Light groundswell provided fun conditions for competitors from NY, NC, FL, ID, WA, OR & CA to race in a tight fleet. Oliver Kunz, Emily Tan, and Quannah Green sailed an impressive scorecard missing a picket fence by only two second places!
Honorable speed and sportsmanship were demonstrated by the entire fleet, but notably by Boogity Boogity and MaHOGany.
Clean Regatta Notes
Many of the competitors were accommodated on boats within the harbor or carpooled to the regatta from nearby TCA lodging in Ojai to reduce transportation to and from the regatta. Teams were offered reusable metal pint glasses in order to receive complimentary beverages throughout the regatta. Igloo backpack coolers were distributed to teams in an effort to eliminate single-use lunch boxes and coolers for this and future regattas. While scheduling did not permit for a beach cleanup, additional metal pint glasses were available in exchange for litter.
