Notice of Race – May 17 & 18, 2025

Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club – Mt. Arlington, New Jersey – Fleet 36

Rules:

This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined by The Racing Rules of Sailing, the rules of the Thistle Class Association, this notice of race, and the sailing instructions.  A protest committee will be appointed by Thistle Fleet 36 and the LHYC E-Scow fleet.

Eligibility and Entry:

Entry is open to all members of the Thistle Class Association who meet the eligibility requirements of the class rules.

Schedule of Events:

Saturday, May 20

9:00 – Registration, Bagels and Coffee

10:00 – Skippers Meeting

10:55 – Warning Signal of Race 1 (additional races to follow)

18:00 – Dinner, Live Music, Keg Beer, Ax Throwing

Sunday, May 21

8:30 – Bagels and Coffee

9:55 – Warning Signal (additional races to follow)

Awards Ceremony to follow races

Registration and Fees:

Entry fee is $160 (includes $5 donation to American Cancer Society)

Includes: 3 Saturday dinners, keg beer, ax throwing, live music

The courses will be detailed in the Sailing Instructions.

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.  

Insurance:

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance.

Prizes:

Prizes for skipper and crew finishing in the top 3 for each division

Prizes for skipper and crew finishing in the top 3 for the overall regatta

Courtyard by Marriott is 2.5 miles from LHYC and approximately 0.25 miles from NJ Transit Station.

No camping or pets are allowed at LHYC. All food and beverages on grounds must be purchased at the club.
