Well-preserved, fast D&M. Great starter boat, especially for lake sailing. Deserves a good home that will race, enjoy, and take care of it.
First starter Thistle, only selling because a new (to us) boat is on the way.
Multiple regatta top 5 finishes in the past 10 years. (2nd place Saratoga 2014, 2nd Place Glimmerglass 2024).
The good:
Rails are not delaminated, gratings are still tight, and the 45’s were re-set with epoxy in 2012. Hull is still stiff and features original gelcoat inside and out.
Bottom faired with longboards, new CB gasket, rigging redone, and weight reduced in 2018. Probably weighs about 520-525 pounds right now. Bailers and keel strip are faired into bottom as well.
Rudder was new in 2013, still like-new condition.
Most lines and halyards new in 2013, not seen a ton of usage since and are just starting to get worn in.
Aluminum spin pole included.
Fabricraft hiking straps from 2013, in great shape.
ARO mast in good condition. Boom is either ARO or Bryant.
Comes with multiple club-quality Fisher sets of sails, Klotz top and bottom covers in good condition (top cover still holds water), and a mast up cover in good condition if I can find it.
The bad:
Some cracking around benches that looks worse than it really is, most glass D&M’s have this “feature” due to the hard corner tank seam joints. CB trunk cap is a bit “crusty” as Bill Wilson described it – have a spare teak trunk cap that has yet to be installed but there is no real issue.
